Auditions for “On Golden Pond” at Butterfield

The Butterfield Stage Players announces open auditions for its opening production for the 2013-2014 Season, On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson.  The show will be directed by John Rodgers.  There are roles for 1 man, late 60’s-70’s, 1 woman in her 60’s, 2 men in 30’s-40’s, 1 woman in 30’s-40’s and 1 boy around 13 years of age.

Story:  This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. They are visited by their divorced daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple has longed for. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman, Ethel and Chelsea are brought even closer together.

Auditions will be Monday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 6th at 7:00 PM at Butterfield Stage, 201 S Denton Street. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.  Headshots and resumes are welcome, but not required.

Performances will be September 12-14 and 20-22.  Rehearsals will be primarily on Monday through Thursday evenings from 7PM-9PM.
